Michael Hilferty

Michael Hilferty is the Managing Partner of White, Hilferty & Albanese, guiding all cases and supervising the firm’s associates.

Michael has spent his entire career litigating cases.  After a law school clerkship transitioned to associate position upon passing the bar, Michael began defending misdemeanor and felony state and federal cases for a prominent criminal defense attorney in Garden City, New York.  He also prosecuted plaintiff employment and discrimination cases on behalf of his clients, as well as defended commercial, real estate, and professional liability disputes.

One of Michael’s mentors once advised him that, “The practice of law is a reading, writing, and speaking business.”  Michael’s appreciation for words is beyond measure.  Proper communication is the key to advancing any position and resolving any dispute.  Applying that strategy to litigation, Michael pores over all written submissions to ensure for maximum effectiveness.  Barring a tactical decision on the motions, Michael has orally argued cases before judges in state and federal trial and appeals courts.

When not advocating for his clients’ rights, Michael can be found on the Long Island Sound aboard his boat, The Irish Goodbye.
